Lake Chala old

This unforgettable full-day excursion bordering Kenya will immerse you in breathtaking panoramic views. This hidden gem is located on the easterly side of Mount Kilimanjaro offering an amazing view on a clear day. Lake Chala is a caldera lake surrounded by a steep crater rim with a maximum of 170 m at the highest.

Various walking trails that take you to explore around the crater lake are available, or a hike down to the lake to witness the turquoise blue and green waters surrounded by diverse plants and trees. Kayaking is also among the exciting activity you may enjoy during your visit here.

Birds are plentiful including raptors, Baboons most likely to be seen. The Lake is also home to the Lake Chala Tilapia which is endemic to chala.

 

Itinerary

In the morning at around 09.00am your guide will transfer you to Lake Chala, You will enjoy your day exploring this beautiful landscape has to offer. Opt for one of the walking trails available for exploring around the crater lake and later hike down the steep crater rim to explore the turquoise blue and green waters at the base. Enjoy an hour of kayaking on the lake and later hike back up for your packed lunch before heading back to Moshi.
